Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is preparing to recall 323,000 Dodge Dart small cars worldwide that could roll away after being parked.

More than 90% of the affected 2013-2016 models are in the U.S. All targeted cars are equipped with 6-speed automatic transmissions.

FCA says a shift cable bushing can deteriorate over time. If the bushing detaches from the transmission, the driver would not actually shift the gearbox, even though the shift lever moves normally. Under those circumstances, the true transmission gear would continue to be revealed on the instrument panel and on a display next to the shifter itself.

FCA reports no crashes or injuries related to the defect. The company suggests affected owners use the park brake to secure their vehicle until their cars are repaired. The recall is expected to begin at the end of May.
