Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV has begun shipping Brazilian made cars to Mexico after phasing out the practice more than three years ago, Reuters reports.

FCA's operations in Brazil sent about 15,000 vehicles to Mexico in 2010. But it cancelled the program soon thereafter as the Brazilian real strengthened, thus reducing the value of the country's exported goods.

This year the real has dropped 12% compared to the U.S. dollar, making exports more attractive again. Reuters notes that Brazil's shrinking car market also makes local carmakers more eager to increase exports.
