Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is recalling 26,900 vans in the U.S. and Canada that could spontaneously shift into neutral when brought to a stop.
The campaign covers 2015-2016 model Ram ProMaster City vans. FCA says an electrical connector near the front of the driver-side seat track could corrode and affect signals to the van’s electronic transmission control module.
A disrupted signal may cause the van to make an “unrequested shift to neutral” when the vehicle comes to a stop, according to the company. FCA discovered the flaw through a review of warranty data. The company reports no accidents or injuries related to the problem.
