FCA Recalls Target Loose Steering, Brake Pedals

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is launching two global recalls covering 882,000 pickup trucks to fix flaws that could make it impossible for drivers to steer or brake their vehicles. About 85% of affected vehicles are in the U.S.
The first of the two campaigns targets certain 660,000 heavy-duty Ram 2500 and 3500 fullsize pickups and 3500-model chassis cabs made in the 2013-2017 model years. FCA says the steering linkage could separate over time, resulting in a complete loss of steering control.
FCA also plans to repair 222,000 of its 2019-model Ram 1500 light-duty pickups to modify a brake pedal adjustment feature. A flaw in the apparatus could allow the pedal to detach. FCA says about one-third of the affected trucks are in unsold dealer inventories.
In December FCA recalls 180,000 Ram 1500s, also from the 2019 model year, to tighten a loose nut that could cause the power steering system to fail.
