Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is launching a global recall to repair 2014 model Jeep Cherokee SUVs equipped with windshield wiper power modules that can be disabled by static electricity.
The campaign covers 206,700 vehicles, 77% of which are in the U.S. About 26,000 of the affected SUVs are outside North America.
FCA says operating the wipers on a dry windshield can generate static electricity that may overload the wiper power module. Dealers will attach a ground strap to the module.
