FCA Recalls Faulty Alternators
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is recalling 74,800 police vehicles and RAM trucks in the U.S. to replace alternators that could abruptly stall the engine and start a fire.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is recalling 74,800 police vehicles and RAM trucks in the U.S. to replace alternators that could abruptly stall the engine and start a fire.
The campaign covers 2011-2014 model Dodge Charger police vehicles and a variety of RAM pickup trucks. The latter group comprises 2007-2013 model 3500 cab chassis, 2008-2013 model 4500 and 5500 cab chassis, and 2013 model 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickup trucks.
All affected models are equipped with a 220-amp alternator. FCA will begin notifying customers about the problem at the end of November. The company hasn’t determined when dealers will have enough replacement units to begin making repairs.
