Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is recalling 153,900 Chrysler Pacifica minivans in the U.S. to fix a software flaw that could cause the engine to stall.
The action targets 2017 model year vehicles with standard (non-hybrid) powertrains. The glitch can cause the engine’s electronic control module to misunderstand the powerplant’s operating status and cause stalling.
The problem has involved vehicles that were idling, starting up, turning or moving at slow and steady speed. FCA says most incidents happened only once, and customers were able to quickly restart their vehicles. The company isn’t aware of any injuries linked to the defect.
