Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV has named Chris Pardi the new top lawyer for its U.S. unit.

Pardi takes the post as FCA faces a federal investigation into claims it manipulated U.S. sales data by pushing some of its dealers to falsify their sales reports, The Wall Street Journal notes. He succeeds Marjorie Loeb, who has held the job since 2013. She helped in Chrysler’s restructuring when it merged with Fiat SpA.

FCA tells the Journal Loeb quit to be closer to her family in Illinois and not because of the federal probe. Pardi previously was assistant general counsel for FCA’s U.S. unit.
