Michael Dahl will take over as Fiat Chrysler Automobile NV’s U.S. head of vehicle safety and regulatory compliance on Dec. 1.
Dahl, 52, played a central role in negotiating the company’s $105 million consent decree with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The agreement addressed FCA’s tardy response to 23 recalls of 11 million vehicles over the past 6 years.
Dahl will succeed Scott Kunselman, also 52, who is retiring at the end of November to take an administrative post at Oakland University outside Detroit.
Dahl, who joined the company 30 years ago, has been FCA’s director of U.S. gasoline and diesel engine programs and global powertrain coordination. He was director of supplier quality for the American unit before that.
