Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV has added 68,600 more units to an earlier recall of Jeep Cherokees to fix an airbag software flaw.
The campaign, which targets 2014-2015 Cherokees, now covers 316,800 vehicles worldwide.
FCA says the seat-mounted and side airbags in affected vehicles may inflate in off-road conditions if the system believes the SUV might roll over. Dealers are reprogramming the software to be less sensitive to the gyrations of off-road driving.
