The U.S. Tech Choice Study says the top four technologies preferred by would-be buyers are blind-spot detection (mentioned by 40%), night vision (33%), automatic collision mitigation systems (30%) and rearview cameras (30%).
The least desirable features cited by respondents relate to health sensors and the ability to control features with hand gestures (9% or less). The study also finds little enthusiasm for efficiency technologies such as solar roof panels or aerodynamic-enhancing grille shutters.
J.D. Power notes that interest in collision protection technologies crosses all generations and age groups, thus representing a strong market. The study says Generation Y consumers (those born after 1976) are the most enthusiastic and least price sensitive about technology.
