Ex-U.S. Prosecutor to Monitor GM’s Recall Process

Bart Schwartz has been appointed as the independent watchdog under terms of GM’s settlement in September of a federal probe into the company’s belated recall of defective ignition switches linked to 124 fatalities.
Schwartz currently is chairman of a New York City company that provides monitoring and compliance services. He will work with Jeffrey Taylor, who will join GM next month as deputy general counsel for federal oversight.
