Former General Motors Co. CEO Fritz Henderson is joining the Hawksbill Group, a Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm launched by former GM colleagues in 2016.

Henderson is the financial chief and chief operating officer who succeeded CEO Rick Wagoner in 2009 during General Motors’ bankruptcy.

Hawksbill was created by CEO Bob Ferguson, a former head of global public policy at GM; Jaime Ardila, a 30-year veteran at GM who once led the company’s South American region; and Timothy Lee, past chairman of GM China and head of global manufacturing.

At GM, Henderson was replaced as president and CEO after eight months by Chairman Ed Whitacre, who was succeeded in 2010 by Dan Akerson. Mary Barra took over as CEO in 2014 and chair in 2016.
