Europe’s Truck Sales Continue to Grow

Registrations of new commercial trucks and buses across Europe grew 8% to 125,900 vehicles in November, including a 9% increase to 152,400 units in the European Union, according to industry group ACEA. It was the third consecutive month of improvement.
Demand for light commercial vehicles last month climbed 5% to 125,900 units. In the EU, the segment rose 6% to 120,900 units. Sales of heavy-duty trucks jumped 30% to 23,100 units across Europe and 31% to 22,500 units in the EU.
Among the region's biggest national markets, a 2% decline to 34,200 units in France was offset by increases in Germany (+10% to 31,000 units), the U.K. (+23% to 28,300), Italy (+1% to 10,700) and Spain (+26% to 9,500).
ACEA reports that truck sales across Europe in the first 11 months of 2013 totaled 1.61 million units, down 2% from January-November 2012. Volume for the EU declined to 1.54 million from 1.57 million in the same period.
