Hyundai Motor Co. unveiled the all-new Venue small crossover vehicle at this week’s New York auto show.

Due this autumn, the 2020 model will be positioned in Hyundai’s lineup below the $21,000 Kona. Pricing for the Venue hasn’t been announced.

Measuring 159 inches from bumper to bumper, the Venue is about five inches shorter than the Kona. The new crossover also has a three-inch shorter wheelbase and is about an inch thinner, but it is slightly taller than its sibling.

Styling cues include a muscular stance, large waterfall-shaped grille and sculpted sides. An optional two-tone paint treatment features contrasting hues for the roof, mirrors and trim.

The Venue’s smaller size translates into about 2.7-cu-ft less overall interior volume. Cargo space is 18.7-cu-ft with the rear seats up and 31.9-cu-ft with them down.

Interior highlights include an 8-inch color infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Motorists also can use voice commands through Amazon Alexa-enabled devices to control various features, including starting the vehicle. The front seats and side mirrors are heated.

Power comes from a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder engine mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable unit. Estimated fuel economy is 33 mpg.

Drivers can choose among five performance modes. Available safety features include forward collision avoidance, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitor, driver attention warning and rear cross-traffic alert.

Hyundai will build the Venue in South Korea.
