Optimism among financial experts in Germany’s future economic growth rose to a 20-month high this month, according to the closely watched ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment.

The index, which measures expectations for expansion six months from now, climbed 6.7 points to 19.5 in April. A separate indicator of current economic conditions rose 2.8 points to a nearly six-year high of 80.1.

Mannheim-based ZEW says financial experts expect continued growth in Germany’s industrial output, and expanding construction sector and low unemployment.
