Optimism among financial analysts about the future of Germany's economy has slipped in April. But confidence in current conditions rose significantly, according to the ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment.
The German economic research institute says a 3.4-point drop to 43.2 in its index this month is probably due in part to worries about the Ukraine conflict. But the research institute points out that the index is still well above its 24.6-point historical average.
ZEW notes that sentiment about Germany's current economic condition jumped 8.2 points this month to a 33-month high of 59.5. The institute speculates that analysts may have reduced their outlook for Germany because the country's economy is already growing strongly.
