But Andrea Bonomi, chairman of the private equity firm, denies news reports that it is in exclusive negotiations with Audi. VW has the money, technology and vision to run Ducati, "but there are many others," Bonomi tells reporters. He did not identify other prospective bidders.
Bonomi hints his firm might retain a stake in Ducati, saying he is interesting in participating in the company's next growth phase.
Reuters continues to report that Audi will announce on Wednesday that it will acquire Ducati. The news service cites unidentified sources.
