DOE Unveils Energy Technology Cost Database

The U.S.

Share

The U.S. Dept. of Energy has created a new, publicly accessible database of cost estimates for a broad range of advanced vehicle, renewable fuel and power generation technologies.

DOE says the Transparent Cost Database offers developers, utilities, consumers and others a way to benchmark the current and likely future cost for everything from wind farms to electric vehicles. The estimates are aggregated from more than 100 DOE documents and other published studies. The agency notes that such reports have always been public but until now were difficult to find.

DOE plans to continuously update the database, which can be accessed HERE. The agency also urges users to e-mail suggestions for making the database more useful to tcdb@nrel.gov.
