Organizers report the North American International Auto Show attracted 808,800 ticketed attendees, including 5,000 journalists during preview week, before closing on Sunday.

Attendance surpassed last year by 5,300, marking the show's biggest crowd since 2002.

The event's Charity Preview night raised $5.3 million for local children's charities. The black-tie gala has collected more than $100 million since it was launched in 1976 by the auto show's owners, the Detroit Auto Dealers Assn.
