Denso Corp. expects sales of its safety and automated driving systems will jump 60% to top 1 trillion yen ($8.30 billion) by 2020 from about 630 billion yen in the fiscal year that ended last March 31.

Such systems accounted for about 15% of the company's total revenue last year, according to a Reuters report.

Although Denso doesn’t expect fully autonomous vehicles to be available by 2020, it’s forecasting healthy growth for driving aids such as braking assist and lane-keeping systems over the next five years. Denso is supplying several automated-driving systems on the next-generation Toyota Prius hybrid car, which was launched earlier this year.

Denso, the world’s second-largest parts supplier after Robert Bosch GmbH, currently derives about half of its sales from part-owner Toyota Motor Corp.
