December Trucks Sales Climb 15% in Europe

Truckmakers sold 199,800 vehicles across Europe last month compared with 173,100 units in December 2014, industry group ACEA reports. Full-year volume rose 12% to 2.16 million units.
December sales gains in Europe’s major markets were led by Spain (+23% to 16,600 units), the U.K. (+20% to 35,600) and Italy (+23% to 25,500). The region’s two biggest truck markets, France and Germany, each posted 9% gains to 44,400 units and 30,400 units, respectively.
Light commercial vehicle sales grew 15% to 167,700 units in December. Deliveries of heavy-duty trucks jumped 21% to 21,200 units.
For the full year, Europe’s light commercial vehicle market expanded 12% to 1.78 million units. Sales of heavy trucks rose 19% to 267,200 vehicles.
Combined full-year commercial truck sales in the U.K surged 20% to 427,900 units in 2015. Deliveries in France advanced 3%, also to 427,900 vehicles. Volume in January-December grew in Germany (+4% to 333,800 units), Spain (+36% to 180,000) and Italy (+13% to 149,900).
