The fund set up to compensate victims of defective General Motors Co. ignition switches has now approved payments for 64 fatalities and 108 injuries linked to the devices.

The fund received 4,343 claims before cutting off applications at the end of January. The office, which doesn't expect to complete its work for many weeks, is still reviewing 1,571 claims.
