A federal judge in Chicago has ruled that a lawsuit which claims Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV falsified monthly sales data may move forward, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The court dismissed charges of racketeering and fraud. But it agreed to hear the case’s complaint that FCA violated state franchise laws and offered dealers incentives to overstate their sales results.
The lawsuit was filed by Illinois dealer Edward Napleton in January. In July the FBI and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission began an investigation into the allegations. FCA says the lawsuit is groundless.
