Flooding and mud slides forced Mazda to suspend production at a factory in Hiroshima over the weekend. The company also temporarily closed its headquarters there, according to media reports.
Mitsubishi says similar issues caused a parts shortage that prompted it to idle its factory in Okayama. Nissan also suspended weekend shifts at some of its factories. Toyota’s Daihatsu unit says the same issue has caused it to halt operations at its plants in Kyoto and Osaka.
