Dana Holding Corp. will open a new plant in Toledo, Ohio, next year to supply axles to Jeep and an unidentified second customer.
The project will triple the size of a new building recently erected on the site of the former Willys-Overland Motors factory, home of the original Jeep. The location is less than three miles from Fiat Chrysler Automobile NV’s current Jeep assembly complex.
The new facility initially will make Dana 30 and Dana 44 axles. The company says other axle programs and additional assembly lines could be added later.
