Daimler Names New Mercedes Chief for U.S.

Daimler AG has named Dietmar Exler to become CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA on Jan. 1.

Exler, 47, will succeed Steve Cannon, 54, who is resigning the post after three years to take over as head of AMB Group, which owns the Atlanta Falcons football team and other sports franchises. AMB is owned by Arthur Blank, co-founder of The Home Depot Inc.

Exler, an Austrian by birth, has been vice president of sales at Mercedes-Benz USA for the past two years. Previously he held several financial posts with Daimler and Mercedes-Benz.
