Katrin Adt, currently vice president of human resources at Daimler AG, will take over as president of the carmaker’s Smart brand Oct. 1.
Adt, 46, will succeed Annette Winkler, 58, who is stepping down at the end of September after eight years as head of the minicar brand. Adt joined Daimler in 1999 and is past head of global sales management for Smart.
Smart currently offers two models: the two-seat ForTwo and, in Europe, the four-seat ForFour. Daimler has said it intends to restructure Smart into an all-electric business that will offer only EVs in Europe and North America by 2020 and elsewhere shortly thereafter.
Smart sales in 2017 fell 7% to 135,000 units, according to the company. Deliveries so far this year are down 9%.
