Daimler AG will attempt to pay for the costs of reducing carbon dioxide emissions from its vehicles by seeking further cuts in materials costs over at least the next three years.
Chief Financial Officer Bodo Uebber tells reporters in New York City that Daimler has used such cost-cutting measures since 2014 to offset CO2-related costs and aims to do the same through 2017.
Uebber says the company's effort is being driven by the company's campaign to hike the use of shared components among its vehicles.
