Daimler, FCA Recall 42,700 Trucks to Replace Takata Airbag Inflators
Daimler AG and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV are recalling 42,700 trucks and vans in the U.S. to replace Takata Corp. airbag inflators that could explode in a crash.

Daimler AG and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV are recalling 42,700 trucks and vans in the U.S. to replace Takata Corp. airbag inflators that could explode in a crash.
The campaigns will call back 40,100 Sprinter 2500 and 3500 model vans made during the 2005-2008 model years. Daimler will handle models marketed under its Freightliner brand, and FCA will recall Sprinters carrying the Dodge brand.
In both cases, dealers will replace the passenger-side frontal airbag. The companies have not yet scheduled a start date for the recalls.
Daimler also is recalling 2,600 of its 2008-2009 model Sterling Bullet 4500 and 5500 (rebadged medium- and heavy-duty Dodge Ram pickup cab chassis) trucks to replace the drivers-side frontal airbag. The callback is expected to begin in August.
