Daimler Confirms Move for U.S. Mercedes-Benz Unit
Daimler AG will begin relocating its American headquarters from Montvale, N.J., to Atlanta, Ga., in June.
Daimler AG will begin relocating its American headquarters from Montvale, N.J., to Atlanta, Ga., in June. Media reports last month said the company was shopping for new locations.
Daimler tells Automotive News the move was triggered by the high cost of expanding its New Jersey office, 20%-30% lower living costs in Georgia and the prospects of strong sales growth in the South. The company will move to 100,000 sq ft of temporary offices, then open its own greenfield headquarters in Atlanta in early 2017.
The new location also will put its U.S. headquarters closer to the company's Mercedes import center in Georgia and assembly plant in Alabama.
