CR Names Tesla Model S Best Car, Again

Tesla Motors Inc.'s Model S electric sedan has been named the best car in the American market for the second consecutive year by Consumer Reports.

CR praises the $89,700 car's "innovation, magnificence and sheer technological arrogance," declaring that the Model S eclipsed all other new vehicles introduced in 2014. The magazine adds that Tesla's wireless software updates and other improvements have kept the car including earlier models fresh.

Last year the Model S scored 99 out of a possible 100 points in CR's road tests, its highest ever. The magazine shrugs off the car's average reliability ranking by owners, gushing that the Model S is a "technological tour de force."
