British supercar maker McLaren Automotive Ltd. has appointed Chief Operating Officer Mike Flewitt as chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Flewitt joined the company in May 2012 as chief operating officer, a title that has now been eliminated. Chairman Ron Dennis had been acting as de facto chief executive.
He previously spent nine years at Ford Motor Co., most recently as vice president of manufacturing for that company's European operations. Flewitt's earlier assignments were in manufacturing and operations at TWR Group Ltd., AutoNova, Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars.

It also seems clear that this kind of reporting — the kind that requires editors to experience and share new manufacturing technologies and strategies — is the kind of reporting that only Gardner can produce with any depth. I’m grateful to be part of it.
