Continental AG has formally launched production of electronic engine control modules at a new 7,200 square-meter factory in Kaluga, Russia.
The €24 million facility has annual capacity to build 1 million controllers along with 500,000 fuel supply units and 500,000 fuel rail systems. Conti notes that the facility is close to vehicle assembly plants operated by PSA Peugeot Citroen, Volvo Trucks and Volkswagen.
The new production site is expected employ about 330 people by 2016. The factory is located in a Conti complex that also makes tires and components for vehicle air conditioners and power steering systems.
