Chrysler Group LLC is calling back 22,100 Ram C/V Tradesman commercial vans whose side airbags may be triggered when the vehicle hits a pothole.
The recall covers 2013-2015 model vans in Canada and the U.S. All are fitted with two front seats only. Chrysler attributes the problem to the absence of rear audio and climate control components near the airbag sensors. The resulting space around the sensors sets up a resonance that exaggerates shocks to the chassis, according to the company.
Chrysler dealers will fix the issue by updating airbag system control software.
