Chrysler Group plans to recall 10,700 SUVs to fix a flaw that could cause them to accelerate briefly after the cruise control system is engaged.
The action covers 2014 model Dodge Durango and Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Cherokee SRT SUVs produced during the first four months of this year.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the flaw causes the SUVs to continue accelerating for one or two seconds after the cruise control system is engaged and the driver releases the accelerator pedal.
About two-thirds of the affected vehicles are in North America, and half have not yet been delivered to customers. Chrysler says it isn't aware of any complaints or accidents involving the defect.
