Chrysler Group LLC is preparing to recall an array of 2008 models with ignition switches whose keys could stick between the "start" and "on" position.

The company says the keys also could overshoot the "on" position after startup and move to "accessory" or "off," which would turn off the engine, power steering and front airbags.

The recall, which is based on one reported accident, covers 349,400 Chrysler 300 sedans, Dodge Charger sedans and Magnum wagons, and Jeep Commander and Grand Cherokee SUVs. Chrysler says 292,200 of the vehicles are in the U.S. Another 23,900 are in Canada and Mexico, and 33,300 are elsewhere.

Chrysler will notify owners about the recall in November. But the company says it hasn't yet identified the root cause of the problem and won't begin repairs until it does.
