Chrysler Group LLC's Ram truck brand says it is looking "very, very closely" at adding a third shift at its truck factory in Warren, Mich.

The plant, which employs about 2,500 people, is building the extended-cab version of the updated Ram 1500 light-duty pickup truck that goes on sale next month.

Fred Diaz, president of the Ram unit, tells reporters that the company is optimistic about sales of the 1500. He says the reviving home construction industry should boost demand from contractors who need to replace aging work trucks.
