Chrysler Group LLC is expanding its recall of Jeep Liberty compact SUVs in the U.S. by 137,200 vehicles to include SUVs from the 2006-2007 model years.
The company will replace rear suspension lower control arms that could corrode and break. The action includes SUVs sold or registered in cold-weather northern states that use road salt.
Chrysler said in March it would recall 209,700 Liberties from the 2004-2005 model years to fix the same problem.
Both phases of the campaign involve 20 northern states and the District of Columbia, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The company says it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue in any of the affected SUVs.
