SF Motors Inc., a 10-month-old Chinese electric-car startup, plans to open an $11 million engineering research facility outside Ann Arbor, Mich.

SF Motors, a unit of Sokon Industry Group, is headquartered in Milpitas, Calif. The company offered no details about the Michigan center, including when the office will open or what it will do. The center is expected to create 150 jobs.

The project will be supported by a $1 million performance-based business development grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corp.
