China reports that its gross domestic product expanded 6.8% in January-March compared with the same period in 2017.
The country’s central government predicts the economy, which grew 6.9% last year, will gain about 6.5% in 2018.

China’s trade surplus with the U.S. expanded again. But the country’s total export volume in March shrank 3%, resulting in a rare monthly trade deficit.
