Sales of passenger vehicles in China rose 6% to 3.7 million units in January-February, including a 4% drop to 1.4 million last month, according to the China Passenger Car Assn.

Analysts say combining sales for the first two months of the year produces a more accurate measure of the market’s strength year on year. That’s because the date of the country’s weeklong Lunar New Year holiday may fall in either month.

The government-supported China Assn. of Automotive Manufacturers will report its data on car sales later this month.
