China Sales Up for GM, Down for Ford
General Motors Co. reports its sales in China rose 8% to 278,000 units in April.
General Motors Co. reports its sales in China rose 8% to 278,000 units in April. Ford Motor Co. says its volume for the month fell 11% to 82,300 units.
GM’s SUV sales doubled in April. Retail deliveries by its Buick brand surged 56% to 99,000 units. Cadillac luxury vehicle sales grew 13% to 7,000 units. Chevrolet sales fell 29% to 35,400 units.
Ford says April deliveries by its Changan Ford Automobile passenger-car venture dropped 11% to 58,800 vehicles. The company’s Jiangling Motors Corp. commercial vehicle partnership saw April sales shrink 7% to 22,200 units.
GM’s sales in China through the first four months of 2016 rose 2% to a record 1.2 million units. Over the same period, Ford’s volume grew 7% to 391,300 vehicles.
