Chris Perry, who took over as head of marketing for General Motors Co.'s Chevrolet brand in 2010, has resigned. GM says it will name a successor later.
Perry's departure is the latest in a multi-year series of shuffles within GM's marketing operations. Don Butler, Cadillac's global marketing chief, left in August. Susan Docherty, 50, quit as the president of Cadillac and Chevrolet operations in Europe, effective Sept. 1.
Perry, 53, was passed over last spring when GM hired Tim Mahoney from Volkswagen of America to become global marketing chief for the Chevy brand.
Perry's job responsibilities shifted repeatedly after he arrived from Hyundai Motor Corp., where he had been leading that company's U.S. marketing efforts.
He hired on as vice president of Chevrolet marketing. In 2011 his role was expanded to include GM's Buick, Cadillac and GMC brands in the region. Perry was later made head of global Chevy marketing and strategy. He became general manager of the brand after the newly created job of global Chevrolet chief went to Alan Batey.
