India’s major carmakers report sales increases in March that reverse a year-on-year industry decline through the first two months of 2016.

March deliveries by market leader Maruti Suzuki jumped 15% to 118,900 units, pushing the company’s sales for the fiscal year ended March 31 to a record 1.43 million units. Sales last month also rose at Mahindra & Mahindra (+17% to 52,700 units), Tata (+1% to 53,100) and Hyundai (+4% to 41,200).

Analysts note the industry was battered in January-February by the holiday season, a ban on diesels in Delhi and strikes that disrupted parts supplies.
