Retail deliveries of passenger vehicles in China rose 12% to 1.78 million units in March, according to the country's China Passenger Car Assn.

The trade group notes that demand for SUV/crossovers and minivans soared 64% and 26%, respectively. Sales of conventional sedans slipped about 1%.

CPCA reported last month that volume in the first quarter of 2015 climbed 16% to 3.5 million units, led by strong demand for SUVs and minivans.
