Automakers sold 64,200 motor vehicles in Argentina last month compared with 84,300 units in September 2011, says dealer group ACARA. There were three fewer selling days this September than a year earlier.
Passenger vehicle sales fell 26%. Demand for vans and light trucks slid 10%. Heavy-duty truck volume plunged 35%.
Argentina's auto production dropped 14% last month to 68,700 vehicles, according to automaker association ADEFA. Exports declined 10% year over year to 40,000 vehicles.
In the January-September period, sales dipped 1% to 675,000 vehicles.
