Auto plants in the U.K. assembled 147,000 vehicles last month compared with 129,900 in February 2015, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reports.

Auto plants in the U.K. assembled 147,000 vehicles last month compared with 129,900 in February 2015, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reports.

Output for the domestic market jumped 24% to 42,100 units last month. Production for export rose 9% to 104,900 vehicles. Volume through the first two months of 2016 climbed 11% to 284,500 units.

SMMT proclaims the outlook “bright” for the British auto industry. But it cautions that much will hinge upon unsettled geopolitical and economic conditions.
