General Motors Co.’s Cadillac unit has hired BMW sales executive Dan Creed to take over as its head of North American sales, effective Aug. 16.

Creed is a 12-year BMW veteran. Most recently he headed BMW sales for the eastern part of the continent.

Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen says Creed will lead the marque’s efforts to match its “brand experience” with those of its competitors in the luxury segment. Last year de Nysschen groused to Automotive News that many Cadillac dealers currently deliver to a standard that is “way short of what a future Cadillac buyer will demand.”
