Cadillac will begin reporting its own financial results in about 2017 and double its worldwide sales volume to more than 500,000 units by the end of the decade, declares President Johan de Nysschen.
But first, he tells Bloomberg News, the brand will weather about three years of slower sales and heavy spending on its products, manufacturing and dealers steps that will hurt the financial results of parent General Motors Co.
De Nysschen figures Cadillac's contribution to GM profits will match that of the company's other brands by 2018. He predicts Cadillac's profit margin will reach at least 10% by 2020.

De Nysschen tells Bloomberg that luxury cars account for roughly 10% of worldwide vehicle sales but generate half the industry's profits. He wants to elevate Cadillac's stature to justify higher prices, while broadening the brand's product lineup to cover 90% of the luxury segment from about 50% today.
